Bishop X. If the Church irks you, start your own like Lefebvre did

Mgr Lefebvre, was a retired (emeritus) bishop with no jurisdiction, that is without any pastoral power over souls, so he could not possibly delegate to anyone a power which he himself no longer possessed.

AD APOSTOLORUM PRINCIPIS

40. And when We later addressed to you the letter Ad Sinarum gentem, We again referred to this teaching in these words: The power of jurisdiction which is conferred directly by divine right on the Supreme Pontiff comes to bishops by that same right, but only through the successor of Peter, to whom not only the faithful but also all bishops are bound to be constantly subject and to adhere both by the reverence of obedience and by the bond of unity."

Acts requiring the power of Holy Orders which are performed by ecclesiastics of this kind, though they are valid as long as the consecration conferred on them was valid, are yet gravely illicit, that is, criminal and sacrilegious.

+++++++++++++

The Masses of The SSPX are gravely illicit, criminal, and sacrilegious but those Protestants in Fiddlebacks are much beloved by some soi disant trads.

Lefebvre had no power or authority to confer anything on anyone and the fact is that his claim of the Church supplies is silly because there were actual Bishops with real jurisdiction and real power and authority then existing  even though Mons Lefevbre didn't like them or the Popes who consecrated them.

The sspx was doomed from the get go and so those who succor it are reduced to appealing to the claims about the sspx by a pope they routinely say is a heretic

All schisms end badly and the SSPX is a Neo-Orthodox outfit that has become inured to existing without a Pope and there is no way the next Pope will be accepted by them as Bergolio has chosen over 50% of the Cardinals.

The schism is dead - long live the schism.
