I Was Country Sede When Country Sede Wasn't Cool
                             by
Bee Wildered and Fr. Anthony Cekada

I remember wearin' straight leg Levis denying they were Popes
like JP II even when they weren't  were in style
I remember singin' Palestrina, making Mantillas all the while
I never went to the movies when the West was really wild I was in the chapel with a smile

And I was listenin' to the Opry Tallis
When all of my friends
were diggin' Rock 'n Roll and Rhythm & Blues The Saint Louis Jebbies
I was Country Sede, when Country Sede wasn't cool
I remember circlin' the drive-in, confessional
pullin' up and turnin' down George Jones William Byrd
I remember when no one was lookin'
I was puttin' peanuts in my Coke  Had a scapular round my throat, or hadn't you heard?
I took a lot of kiddin'
'Cause I never did fit in
now look at everybody
tryin' to be what I was then
I was Country,  Sede  when Country Sede wasn't cool
Oooh
I was Country, Sede when Country Sede wasn't cool
I was Country, Sede from my Biretta down to my Fiddlebacks
I still act  and hate the same
What you see ain't nothin' new
I was Country, Sede when Country Sede wasn't cool

They call us country bumpkins crazy bastids
For sticking to our roots ululating like loons
I'm just glad sad I'm in a country schism
Where we're all  I'm free to choose  So I wail yodel and croon

I was country Sede when Sede wasn't cool
